Avira to the rescue – release of the new Rescue CD
Download the new edition of Avira AntiVir Rescue System
Tettnang, 16 December 2008 - Windows not starting correctly or the system behaving strangely... we have all experienced this at one time or another. The cause may be a nested rootkit threat, which hides itself from virus scanners.
To combat this menace, Avira has developed a rescue CD that can be used to examine and get the system running again. The advantage: the rootkits are then inactive, so that the virus scanner can detect all threats.

The new version 3.5 of the Rescue System includes an optimized user interface, that allows the user to check the computer with only a few mouse clicks. The detected threats can be renamed, repaired or simply logged with the rescue CD. Avira’s free Rescue System runs on both Windows 98 and Windows XP or Vista systems.
You can download the Rescue System from www.free-av.com or from www.avira.com. The version is updated several times a day, as .iso image or .exe file, and it includes its own burning software. The users can easily download the latest version, copy it to a CD and start their rescue operation.
