My Avira AntiVir Personal software has expired. Is the product no longer free?
Avira AntiVir Personal - FREE Antivirus software remains free. In order to extend the license without reinstalling the product, please download the current license file.
If you save it directly in the directory C:\Program Files\Avira AntiVir Personal\, Updates are available again.
Is the product really for free?
Avira AntiVir Personal - FREE Antivirus is free for personal use.
With every purchase of Avira AntiVir Premium and Avira Premium Security Suite 5 Euros from every sale are donated to the Auerbach Foundation. This charitable foundation, which was founded by Tjark Auerbach, the company founder of Avira, supports social, scientific and cultural projects with these donations. In this way, a purchase of the Avira AntiVir Premium also implies that you are providing some support and security apart from protecting your digital data.
How can I uninstall Avira AntiVir Personal software?
In order to remove the software, click on the Windows Start button, go to Settings or to System Administration, Software and select the Avira AntiVir software entry. Click on Remove. After restart, you can install the new Avira AntiVir software.
Why don't you offer a product for Windows 98?
With Avira you are using one of the most modern and most innovative antivirus solutions. To do justice to this claim, we develop our products continually. However, this also means putting an end to obsolete practices.
Starting July 2006, Microsoft discontinued the support for Windows 98/ME. As announced some time ago on Product lifecycle information page on www.avira.com, we do not offer new versions and updates for Windows 98/ME virus protection any longer.
We recommend that you switch to a current Windows operating system and we assure you that we will continue to provide maximum protection at all times.
Can we use Avira AntiVir Personal in our association/ community/ church?
The free license for Avira AntiVir Personal covers personal use exclusively. The use in communities, associations, churches etc. is not included.
